City Plaza Shopping Centre, Hong Kong |
|
This is a project that the Practice designed in the 1980's for this very substantial development working with Dale Keller as Interior Designer. The idea was to bring a typical Hong Kong street scene with all its neon into a mall. There was also following on from this, a desire to have a completely different feel to the centre day and night. To provide this dynamic two different lighting systems were installed above the open cell ceiling, thus concealing them when not in use. The individual stores were encouraged to use neon projecting signs to capture the spirit of Hong Kong. During the day the circulation routes are lit with MBF sources and at night low voltage Tungsten halogen downlights take over. |
