lighting consultants worked with the architects on this most elegant
glass cube which joined the main house to an adjacent stone building.
The result is a wonderfully day lit volume that acts as circulation
space and a gallery for pictures and sculpture. The sun moves around
the building giving a variety of natural lighting experiences throughout
the day and throughout the year.
The artificial lighting has been discreetly integrated not to intrude
on the day time appearance of this incredibly well integrated glass
structure. The space is seen as a transparent junction between the two
buildings during the day with clear vision from outside to within and
vice versa.
At night this pivotal volume gently glows between the two solid structures.
