Crossrail - Environmental Impact Assesements |
|
Crossrail is a proposed new rail link for London. The route goes from Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west right across the capital into Essex and Kent in the east. It travels underground through the city centre between Paddington and East London. dpa lighting consultants were employed by Crossrail London Links Limited to first develop a methodology and then to undertake detailed environmental impact assessments of over 70 stations and work sites along the proposed route. We were required to work closely with the client, the various architects employed across the project and the engineering teams responsible to develop a carefully considered assessment of existing conditions, construction phase impacts and future operational impact of the scheme. The project also enabled the client and design teams to "design out" any adverse environmental impacts that might be caused from artificial lighting, both during the construction phase and during future operation of the railway. Our final report was included in the Hybrid Bill
submitted to Parliament seeking permission to construct the scheme.
The Crossrail Bill was given Royal Assent in July 2008. |
