acted on behalf of a local authority in order to appraise a variety
of alternative lighting approaches being put forward to mitigate against
light pollution caused by a golf driving range. Golf driving ranges
can often cause significant sky glow and/or glare but a variety of techniques
are possible to minimise these effects.
In this case, several lighting trials were conducted and measured surveys
carried out to establish the level of mitigation that was possible by
employing alternative lighting approaches. In addition, computer simulations
were carried out using alternative notional lighting solutions, which
were more difficult to trial so as to establish the feasibility of a
number of additional lighting approaches.
