District Council commissioned dpa lighting consultants
to undertake an evaluation of an environmental impact assessment submitted
as part of a detailed planning application for a proposed sports facility.
Lighting can have a significant impact on environmental conditions both
during the day and during the night. The impact of a lighting installation
is determined only in part by the amount of light being emitted by the
luminaires; consideration of the other factors such as the context,
type of lighting approach, colour of light, direction of light and control
strategies are equally important. As independent consultants, dpa
are able to provide impartial advice and guidance with respect to environmental
impact assessment for a wide range of lighting installations from the
lighting of individual facilities to large residential or commercial
developments.
