by Desalles Flint, the Hyatt Regency – Sochi is planned for completion
in time for the winter Olympics of 2014. Located on the Black sea coast
and 45 minutes for the Caucasus Mountains the hotel is ideally located
to take advantage of both the summer and winter seasons. Built in a
seismically active region the hotel is structurally broken into 3 elements
the 2 flanking tower walls which presents a rectilinear façade
to the street and city beyond, the ballroom is the 3rd element floating
above the Lobby and Hotel bar creating a triptych of windows into the
heart of the hotels activity. The hotel then relaxes into a series of
sensuously curved balconies overlooking the pool terrace, pool bar and
down to the sea beyond.
