The Fountain Memorial at the Plain, Oxford

< Back

This recently restored and refurbished Victorian memorial has been illuminated from within to create a lantern effect.

A key requirement of the project was that the lighting scheme should use little energy and be easy to maintain. Lighting powered via solar energy was researched but considered to be impractical as well as excessive in it's cost.

A fibre optic lighting system was used, which spotlights the columns and bathes the central fountain in warm white light. The recessed fixtures are small, discreet and in proportion to the building.
