Axis Bar, Hilton Hotel, Dusseldorf |
|
The existing bar had a dated and heavy interior that was in need of refreshing. With a very tight budget the design team were asked to use light to accentuate the new materials and volume that is to be created by the interior designers. The space is used both during the day and at night, and has significant natural light, which is to be maximized. The lighting was required to ensure a fresh, contemporary ambience balanced with a degree of softness to achieve an appropriate lighting scenario when the natural light is not available. The whole bar is controlled by a scene set system thus allowing a variety of lighting scenarios to automatically be accessed according to the amount of daylight and activity taking place in the bar. The bar uses a combination of cold cathode, T5 fluorescent and infra red coated low voltage tungsten halogen lamps. This palette of light sources provides a combination of appropriate emitted light, energy efficiency and controllability, all of which are extremely important. In addition digital projection is used on to a panel behind the bar to animate the space. |
