The new Raffles Hotel at the Wafi City, Dubai is an eclectic ancient Egyptian and contemporary mix of styles.

It was important for the lighting to be seamlessly integrated into the interior fabric of the building, concealed from view where possible to enhance these spaces.

A lighting control system was used as an essential tool to balance the lighting levels throughout the day and night. Energy is an important issue in all projects with the control system enabling specific lighting to be controlled during the day where natural daylight is utilised over artificial. For the night time scenes carefully balanced light levels in all spaces provide the appropriate and desirable ambience needed in areas such as the Lobby, Café, Business Centre, Restaurants and Bars. In addition, obviously, lamp life was vastly increased with the use of dimming.

Lighting equipment was carefully selected for specific uses to provide impact, accent and drama to the various spaces. Lamp types were kept to a minimum to further improve the maintainability of the lighting installation.
