International Financial Centre is a business initiative
of the Government of Dubai and was established to become
a universally recognised hub for institutional finance
and as the regional gateway for the capital and investment
in the Middle East. The practice was involved with producing
a lighting masterplan for DIFC which encompasses approximately
2,000,000 square meters of mixed use development and
the detailed design of the Gate Precinct.
The
idea of the lighting masterplan is to encourage an overwhelming
quality within this living piece of city, where the
lighting responds cohesively to the road and transport
infrastructure, gateways, architecture, hard and soft
landscaping and water features. The development is structured
around a 1 kilometre long external boulevard with retail
mall below. This central spine forms the primary axis
within the site and is visually linked to the Emirates
Towers and World Trade Centre.
