Quality lighting design and implementation can largely influence the success of a Restaurant or Bar. The importance of lighting within such environments has for sometime been widely recognised and lighting itself has been considered by many to either make or break an interior. Well thought out and executed lighting techniques for Restaurants and Bars can go so far as to dramatically change the character of the space.

Whilst providing appropriate lighting elements that compliment the interior design, it is equally as important to fully consider the overall ambience and the various light levels required and therefore lighting control forms an integral part of the design process. Furthermore, the use of candles for example can play a significant role in a particular lighting scene, particularly where an intimate or romantic setting is required.

At dpa we prefer to involve the venue operators early in the design process, so that their aspirations are fully understood and met and for us as designers to explore other relevant ideas to best enhance the Restaurant and Bar environment.
