Project:
Bin Hendi Avenue, Dubai

The 70,000 square ft Bin Hendi Avenue houses a host of Bin Hendi fashion brand outlets and a wide range of jewellery and accessories stores. In addition to the outlets, Bin Hendi Avenue features a 3,200 square ft central space, designed to hold exhibitions and events.

The lighting brief for the Avenue called for the mood to be romantic, dramatic with a touch of theatrics and to be noticeably different from typical over-lit modern retail malls.

The majority of lighting is from indirect sources such as cove lighting, up-lighting to columns and soffits and concealed lighting to the extensive artificial sky ceiling. Great consideration was given to the retail units themselves, as their internal lighting was seen as a cohesive element and enhance the ambience of the space and not to be competed with.

All of the lighting in the public space is controlled by an architectural lighting control system to offer an automatic transition of lighting moods and effects throughout the day and late into the evening, as well as the advantages of lower energy consumption and maintenance. In particular the lighting to the main features in the Avenue, the horse sculpture and the sky ceiling, have a variety of subtle, dynamic, theatrical and colour change effects occurring.
