We are delighted that dpa project the Tiffany Gallery at the New-York Historical Society won ‘Leisure Project of the Year’ at the recent Lighting Design Awards 2018. In addition Mei Ume was also awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Hotel and Restaurant Project’ of the Year category.
We are also very proud to announce that Iain Carlile and Louise-Mari Santiago were named in the Lighting Design Awards 40 under forty programme!
In celebration of the Practice reaching its 60th Anniversary, the Lighting Design Awards produced a short film about dpa which was shown at the event. Please see below a link to the film, which pays tribute to Derek Phillips and the longevity of the Practice.

dpa Senior Designer Johanna Medina was delighted to be asked to present a lecture on Lighting Design to students studying Fashion Retail Management at the University of the Arts, London, London College of Fashion. The lecture aimed to help students understand the principles of lighting design, how to build meaningful connections and emotionally engage with today’s enlightened consumers, values and ethical practices.
An interesting article has been published by FX Magazine about the changing design of the traditional department store, and reinvention for a new younger clientele. The article references dpa project Robinsons department store in Dubai as an example of excellent design.

We are pleased to share an article published by Arc Magazine celebrating dpa’s 60th Anniversary. The article features a timeline illustrating the Practice’s history as well as a selection of some of the more notable projects that the practice has completed over the past 6 decades.
We are delighted that dpa designers Iain Carlile and Louise-Mari Santiago have been named in the Lighting Design Awards 2018 – 40under40 annual programme, recognising a new generation of lighting design talent. Congratulations to all designers that have been recognised in this award.
‘The Ice Hut’ Was a collaborative team effort between the Oxfordshire and London offices at this year’s Ready Steady Light event organised by the Society of Light and Lighting.
The team was given, 6 light fittings, a randomly selected site at Rose Bruford College and 3 hours to create a visually striking and appealing installation.
‘The Ice Hut’ Installation came 1st in the Peer Award category, voted for by fellow designers competing at the event.

Mei Ume at Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square in the Hotel & Restaurant Project of the Year category and the Tiffany Gallery at the New-York Historical Society for ‘Leisure Project of the Year’.
