The Newman occupies a site long associated with Fitzrovia’s working and creative life. Formerly an office building used by advertising and creative industries, the site was comprehensively redeveloped to create a hotel that reflects the character of this London area.

Located in the heart of Fitzrovia, long associated with leading creative figures such as Virginia Woolf and Dylan Thomas, The Newman opened on 1st February 2026.

dpa were privileged to work with FM, Kinsfolk & Co, and Interior Designers Lind + Almond. Taking inspiration from the area’s bohemian history, the design features a contemporary Art Deco aesthetic that the lighting design respected. A combination of special decorative lighting fixtures and carefully integrated architectural lighting, controlled in different layers, sculpt each and every space throughout the property.

The lighting design, taken on by dpa lighting consultants at the Detailed Design stage, enhances interior features, providing an atmosphere that feels warm, layered and timeless.
