Just moments from Hyde Park, MA/NA Mayfair – a Japanese dining concept by Thesleff Group – blends the composed elegance of Mayfair with the refined energy of contemporary Japanese culture and cuisine.

Designed by Los Angeles-based OV & Co, the interiors are shaped by a philosophy of quiet power and ritual. Soft amber tones, inspired by Tokyo after dark, create a warm, immersive atmosphere, while a handblown Magma installation by EWE Studio forms a commanding centrepiece, grounding the space through its sculptural presence and interplay of material and light.

The lighting design responds to both creative ambition and technical complexity, pushing the boundaries of hospitality lighting design. All decorative luminaires are bespoke and incorporate tuneable white technology, complemented by a fully tuneable architectural lighting system throughout. Carefully orchestrated lighting scenes support the venue’s changing identity, transitioning seamlessly from a refined dining environment to an intimate cocktail bar.

A defining feature of the project is the integration of two complementary control systems operating in symbiosis: a conventional architectural platform and a DMX-based audiovisual system. Selected decorative and architectural elements—including wall-mounted luminaires, bar lighting, and feature installations—are controlled via DMX. As the evening evolves and DJ sets begin, dynamic lighting scenes are introduced, transforming the space into a layered, immersive environment. Light becomes a performative element, responding to the atmosphere and enhancing the shift from dining destination to vibrant lounge.
