Situated on a serene stretch of beachfront in Antigua, this 22,000 sq. ft residence, comprising a Main House and Guest Villa, reflects the quiet calm of its architecture and interiors through a refined and understated lighting approach.

Working in close collaboration with KSR Architects and Ward & Co. Interiors, dpa lighting consultants developed a scheme that integrates light seamlessly within the architecture and joinery wherever possible. The aim was to create a soft, ambient backdrop that supports the project’s “50 shades of white” interior concept. Colour, form and texture are introduced through artwork and key feature elements, each carefully illuminated to provide visual focus and subtle contrast as you journey through the villa.

As day transitions into night, a consistent strategy of three core lighting elements provides gentle activation across the exterior. Feature lighting highlights the firepit, pool and BBQ terrace, while concealed linear lighting within bamboo coves, recessed uplights to stone walls, and discreet downlights guide movement along the terraces, which function as an external corridor.

One of the most magical moments occurs at sunset. As the natural light softens, the interiors begin to glow and the atmosphere shifts. The terrace canopy emits a warm ambient wash, the pool shimmers, and the landscaped areas are lit just enough to draw the eye, never detracting from the uninterrupted view toward the horizon.
