Oli Oli is an incredible new indoor play space with eight separate galleries spread over two beautifully designed floors. Oli Oli offers plenty of space and an environment that allows for natural exploration rather than over-stimulation. Inspired by the work of leading educators, artists and development psychologists, it is an interactive museum of delights to stimulate a child’s body and mind. Situated within the Al Quoz district of Dubai, Oli Oli’s modest location belies its hidden attractions. Spread across 30,000 square feet, the two-storey facility boasts a massive play area that follows the STEAM education theme (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths). In total, the galleries include over forty interactive, whimsical and wonderful things to do, unlocking creativity at every turn and sparking a genuine love of learning. dpa collaborated with Sneha Divias Atelier to realise her interpretation of the brief during the day and into the evening.
Using the budget available as a creative constraint the lighting scheme allows for a simple, robust and flexible solution, whilst keeping maintenance to a minimum. The design of the scheme is intended to enhance the interactive experience and maintain focus on the equipment and learning activities inherent to the galleries.
