At dpa lighting consultants, our approach to Riverstone Heights was to create lighting that not only complements the architecture but also enriches the sense of community at the heart of this East London development. Located in Bromley-by-Bow, Riverstone Heights offers boutique-style, built-to-rent living for a diverse mix of residents – from young professionals and students to couples and families. Our role was to ensure every shared space feels warm, inviting, and functional.

The journey begins in the dramatic triple-height entrance lobby, where lighting was designed to celebrate scale and create an immediate sense of arrival. Moving up to level one, two communal lounges provide intimate breakout spaces alongside group meeting areas and a kitchenette. Here, our lighting strategy focused on layering – balancing ambient light with accents to define zones and enhance comfort.

The true social hub sits high above the city on level 27. This casual lounge, paired with a private kitchen and dining room, opens onto a spectacular rooftop terrace complete with an outdoor kitchen. Our lighting design here was all about flexibility and atmosphere – soft, integrated solutions indoors and subtle exterior lighting that frames panoramic views without detracting from the skyline.

Throughout the project, we collaborated closely with the interior designers to ensure every detail was coordinated. By selecting fixtures that blend seamlessly with the architecture and integrating lighting into joinery and outdoor elements, we helped create a warm, cohesive environment that reflects the client’s vision of connected living.
