The Sessile, London | dpa lighting consultants – "Right Light, Right Place, Right Time" ™

The Sessile, London

At dpa lighting consultants, our vision for The Sessile Apartments was to create an environment where light enhances architecture, fosters community, and elevates everyday living. This boutique-style, built-to-rent development in Tottenham Hale is more than a collection of apartments- it’s a lifestyle destination, and lighting plays a central role in shaping that experience.

From the outset, we worked closely with interior and landscape designers to ensure every space feels warm, inviting, and connected. The top-floor orangery became the heart of the community – a multi-functional hub featuring a lounge, communal kitchen and dining area, rooftop terrace, and private dining room. Here, our lighting design balances natural daylight with carefully integrated fixtures, creating a seamless transition from day to night.

Adjacent spaces, including the yoga studio and the games and music room, required a more nuanced approach. Concealed lighting within bespoke joinery highlights the curated vinyl collection, adding a sense of discovery and personality to the space.

At ground level, the state-of-the-art gym presented an opportunity to combine functionality with atmosphere. We introduced a grid of lantern-style pendants to soften the industrial aesthetic of exposed services, while precision track and spot lighting delivers focused illumination for active zones.

The podium terrace, nestled at the heart of the development, is a tranquil green escape. Our subtle night-time lighting accentuates pathways and seating areas without overpowering the natural landscape, ensuring the space remains serene and welcoming after dark.

Across every level, our goal was simple: to use light as a tool for connection and comfort. Through meticulous fixture selection and integrated detailing, we’ve helped bring The Sessile’s vision of a warm, vibrant community to life.
