dpa Wins Artistic Award at Ready Steady Light 2026

We are delighted that the dpa lighting consultants has been recognised with the Artistic Award at this year’s Ready Steady Light competition, hosted by the SLL and Rose Bruford College.

Titled “A Hidden Welcome”, the installation drew inspiration from the concealed passageways and tucked-away countryside pubs that are characteristic of Oxfordshire.  The concept centred on a sense of discovery, enticing visitors towards a welcoming destination that offered a place of warmth and refuge.

Rather than simply lighting the façade, the installation used layered illumination to create depth, atmosphere and a sense of intrigue. Warm tones were introduced selectively, particularly to the timber doorway, enhancing its natural warmth and establishing it as an inviting focal point within the composition. Careful control of light spill was essential to preserving the mystery of the journey and allowing the reveal of the illuminated destination to have maximum impact.

The result was an immersive and atmospheric experience that successfully transformed a simple passage into a memorable journey, earning recognition from the competition judges for its artistic expression.
