The Europe Hotel & Resort, Ireland
The ability to reflect the landscape beyond within the water was an important element for the composition and connectivity between the spa and Loch Lein in the distance.
The impact of natural light ingress, coupled with the careful planning of the artificial lighting scheme was vital. The use of recessed ceiling downlights was minimised, so as to keep a clean soffit and limit the amount of point source artificial lighting reflection within the water and therefore preserve and highlight the reflectance of the landscape. By doing this the views were exaggerated and extended as the landscape was effectively brought forward in to the Spa.
