  • Barfly by Buddha-Bar at the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai – shortlisted for two awards, Bar Lighting Design Project of the Year and Restaurant Lighting Design Project of the Year.
  • Factory Bar + Kitchen by McGettigan’s, at the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai – shortlisted for Bar Lighting Design Project of the Year.
  • Anglo American’s Headquarters, London – shortlisted for Project of the Year International.
  • Al Shindagha Museum, Al Maktoum House, Dubai – shortlisted for Public Space Lighting Design Project of the Year.

Fairmont Taghazout Bay, Morocco – winner at the Ahead MEA 2022 Awards

We are delighted to share that the Fairmont Taghazout Bay, Morocco has won the “Landscaping and Outdoor Spaces” category at the AHEAD MEA 2022 Awards.

The Fairmont Taghazout Bay is a coastal luxury five-star resort that sits within the beautiful Taghazout Bay. Its breath-taking views and beautiful gardens link the various hotel and F&B elements with an adjoining Fairmont operated villa complex within the overall site.

The stunning, simple and contemporary Moroccan architecture designed by Abdessamad Achrai (Local Architect) and HKS (Concept/Masterplan) and the soft and captivating landscape, designed by Scape Design are complimented by lighting providing both enhancement and theatre to the overall site as well as a practical approach to guest orientation with key features and elements illuminated at night. The elegant interiors designed by Wimberly Interiors connect beautifully with the outside scene, dovetailing with terraces and other spaces to reinforce the seamless inside-outside aspect of the spaces.

St Andrews Links Trust Headquarters: winner at DIA Design Awards 2022

 

We are delighted to announce that dpa project, St Andrews Links Trust HQ, New Pilmour House has won Best Commercial/Non-Domestic Award at the Dundee Institute of Architects Design Awards 2022 (the DIA is a local chapter of the RIAS – Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland). Designed by architects Nicoll Russell Studios, Broughty Ferry,  the project was also “Highly Commended” for Interior Design, and the associated Balgove Starter Box by the same team won for “Best Use of Timber”. This recent accolade is part of a list of recent successes, which include: a “Pride of Place” Award for Best Commercial Project from St Andrews Preservation Trust and Best Commercial/Office/Hotel Project in the Scottish Design Awards. The project is also shortlisted for the Architects Journal Awards and the Civic Trust Awards; we are looking forward to hearing the outcome of these shortly! P&O Arvia departure from Meyer Werft Shipyard, Germany: 8th November 2022

dpa lighting consultants are immensely proud to have worked on P&O Cruises newest ship Arvia, the sister ship to Iona, which departed the Meyer Werft shipyard, Germany bound for Eemshaven, Netherlands for her conveyancing on 8th November 2022 and is scheduled for delivery during December 2022. dpa have been in collaboration with P&O Cruises and working in association with Jestico + Whiles, Partner Ship Design and Richmond International, designers of the front of house guest areas for this new 184,700 tonnes ship.

Like Iona, Arvia is powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), therefore significantly reducing carbon emissions.  At 345 metres long, Arvia will have an operating capacity of 5,200 guests and 1,800 crew, designed to capture unprecedented panoramic views across the ever-changing seascape, at every available opportunity. She will be the first ship of her kind to feature a Sky Dome with retractable roof, spanning a vast performance and recreation area at the top of the ship. Altogether, Arvia will be the epitome of a sunshine resort sailing year-round to the warmest climates.

dpa lighting consultants are delighted to be working with architect Dr. Norbert Weickenmeier and in association with Weickenmeier, Kunz + Partner Architects, Munich on the Neue Balan Campus project, which is a shortlisted entry in the German Urban Development Prize 2023. For more than 40 years, the awards have served to promote a forward-looking culture of planning and urban development and are awarded to urban development projects characterised by sustainable and innovative contributions to urban development culture.

Nick, Richard and David are delighted to announce that Stephanie Harris and Tim Leeding have been made Associates at our Oxfordshire studio and Louise Mari Santiago has been made Associate at our Dubai studio .  Stephanie, Tim and Louise have been with dpa for a long time, contributing to our success and working on a wide variety of projects within the Clifton and Dubai studios, Tim having worked in both studios.
